OfficeMate for Edge is a productivity copilot for Microsoft 365, Outlook Web, and Teams. We operate with zero surveillance: your emails, meeting transcripts, and project tabs remain strictly inside your browser sandbox.

01. Introduction & Enterprise Standards

This Privacy Policy explains the data governance practices of OfficeMate for Edge - Outlook AI Drafts, Teams Notes & Tab Stash ("we", "our", or "the extension") across Microsoft Edge and Chromium browsers.

Corporate professionals, enterprise consultants, and project managers rely on Microsoft 365, Outlook Web, and Teams daily. OfficeMate respects the stringent confidentiality requirements of enterprise workplaces. The extension executes entirely client-side, giving you high-impact drafting and tab management tools without compromising internal company policies.

02. Data We Never Collect

We do not collect, intercept, record, sell, or disclose your corporate communications. Specifically, OfficeMate does NOT collect:

  • Email Content & Subject Lines: Incoming emails and generated drafts in Outlook Web are never transmitted to our servers.
  • Teams Chat & Meeting Transcripts: Selected text used for action-item extraction is parsed locally via regex and in-memory algorithms.
  • Corporate Credentials & Microsoft Tokens: We do not have access to or store your Microsoft 365 password, SSO tokens, or corporate credentials.
  • Browsing Activity & URLs: Outside of stashing tabs explicitly upon user request, we do not log or track visited pages.
  • Telemetry & Behavioral Tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or telemetry trackers.

03. Data Stored On Your Local Device

OfficeMate uses chrome.storage.local strictly on your local computer to retain your custom workspaces and user settings:

  • Project Workspaces (Tab Stashes): Tab titles, URLs, and workspace labels stashed by you so you can restore client work sessions with 1 click.
  • Draft Preferences: Your preferred default email sign-off and custom tone settings.
  • Extracted Meeting Checklists: Action item checklists generated during active meetings until you export them to Markdown (.md) or dismiss them.
  • Daily Usage Counter: Local free tier usage quota counters.
💡 Wiping Workspaces: You can delete any saved project workspace with one click in the OfficeMate sidebar, or clear all data via browser extension settings.

04. Browser Permissions Justification

OfficeMate complies with the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Minimum Necessary Scope policy:

tabs Workspace Management Required exclusively for the Project Workspace Tab Stash feature to collect the URLs and titles of open tabs when you stash a window, and to recreate those tabs when you restore the workspace. OfficeMate does not read tab contents.
activeTab Active Tab Inspection Required when you open the OfficeMate Copilot sidebar or use the 1-click email response bar in Outlook Web.
scripting Content Script Injection Required to mount the isolated Shadow DOM copilot sidebar and Outlook compose action buttons.
contextMenus Right-Click Actions Enables quick context menu shortcuts (e.g. "Extract Action Items with OfficeMate") on highlighted text selections.

05. Meeting Notes & Tone Generation

The core email drafting templates (e.g., Polite Pushback, Executive Status Update, Formal Confirmation) operate 100% locally using pre-compiled corporate phrase heuristics. Meeting action-item parsing runs directly in browser memory without sending text to cloud servers. If you choose to configure optional BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) for third-party AI models in the future, requests travel directly from your browser to your chosen provider via encrypted HTTPS.

06. Remote Code Compliance

OfficeMate for Edge adheres strictly to Manifest V3 enterprise security guidelines:

  • Zero remote JavaScript execution. No external scripts or styles are loaded from CDNs.
  • All code, styling, and templates are compiled into the local extension package.

07. Data Retention & Erasure

We do not store your data on external servers. Uninstalling OfficeMate from your browser (edge://extensions) immediately erases all stored project workspaces, draft settings, and notes.

08. User Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Under GDPR and CCPA, you maintain complete ownership of your work data. We never sell, lease, or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

09. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

OfficeMate is a business and corporate productivity extension and does not collect information from anyone under the age of 13.
